Even nettles look soft from afar

The meaning of this piece has changed a lot since the time of its conception. The idea hit me one night at around 2 AM and I got out of bed, accidentally waking up my roommate, and scribbled it down in my sketchbook. I'm actually fairly disappointed in the way it turned out and it wasn't what I had originally envisioned but I just let myself go with it. I started the painting around the beginning of December and worked on it on and off during the break and tonight I forced myself to finish it because I could just keep on going so I was afraid the feel of the painting would eventually change to something other than I had intended.

EDIT: Made it so that the skull in the eye was more subtle
